UFC welterweight Patrick Cote is looking for a return fight to continue his three-fight win streak with a fight at UFC 178 in September. Cote has fought just twice in two years due first to a drop to the welterweight division and then a coaching gig opposite Kyle Noke on The Ultimate Fighter: Nations. Cote won both his debut and the coach fight against Noke.
Cote has just one loss in the past three years and could potentially schedule himself for a third fight in 2014 if he can attain a victory at UFC 178 if he is given a fight, then stays healthy afterwards.
As for an opponent for UFC 178, Cote has called upon UFC welterweights Thiago Alves, Ryan LaFlare, and Erick Silva.
Alves was injured and removed from an August bout and won’t likely be ready for a September fight. LaFlare was set for a July bout but he, too was injured and forced to rehab said injury before he returns to fighting. Silva last fought Matt Brown in an absolute war, in which he lost, giving him his fourth loss insight fights, having alternated wins and losses over that time.
UFC 178 is currently scheduled for September 27th in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is headlined by a light heavyweight title rematch between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson. As main events go recently, however, anything can change.
