A welterweight shake-up has altered the co-main event for the UFC’s second trip to China.
Hector Lombard put his welterweight title run on hold due to an injury, which has forced him out of his co-main event slot against Dong Hyun Kim (19-2-1, 1 NC). Dana White announced the news at a press conference to promote the UFC’s return with UFC Fight Night 48 in Macao, China.
Lombard’s replacement was named in Tyron Woodley (13-3), who will make just a two-month turnaround since his decision loss to Rory MacDonald at UFC 174 on June 14.
UFC Fight Night 48 takes place on August 23rd at the CotaiArena in Macao, SAR, China. It is headlined by a middleweight bout between Cung Le (9-2), who is returning from a 21-month layoff, and Michael Bisping (24-6) who has alternated wins and losses in his previous five bouts, most recently dropping a decision to Tim Kennedy in April.
