The TUF Nations Finale will take place Wednesday in Quebec City. The card will be headlined by the bout between Michael Bisping and Tim Kennedy. With UFC On FOX 11 happening on Saturday many fans have overlooked this card.
But they shouldn’t. Here are 3.5 reasons to tune into the TUF Nations Finale.
1. Bad Blood
Michael Bisping and Tim Kennedy do not like each other. Their feud has been simmering for some time and it will explode in the ring. Bisping is used to playing the bad guy but this time it has gone deeper. Both fighters have traded insults via social media and everything came to a head with Bisping wagging his finger in Kennedy’s face at the event press conference.
Bisping is a good all around fighter who doesn’t get as much credit as he deserves because his personality turns so many people (outside of the UK) off. Kennedy is solid and should give Bisping all he can handle.
2. Oh, Canada
All four fighters competing for a UFC contract are from Canada. Team Australia got shut out and because of this all but three fights if the event feature at least one Canadian fighter. This should keep the live crowd hyped and provide some great energy. It will be interesting to see which fighter gets labeled as “the next GSP.”
3. Dustin Poirier
Poirier has been a fan favorite since he was featured in Fightville. Now The Diamond has made it to a the main card and has a chance to really put on a show and move up the featherweight rankings.
After his first round destruction on Diego Brandao at UFC 168 Poirier steps in to face Akira Corassani. With another victory Poirier should crack the top five and be in the mix for a title shot soon.
3.5 Sarah Kaufman Finally Gets An Opponent
It was beginning to look like Sarah Kaufman would have to wait to fight again when two opponents had to drop out of this match due to injuries. First it was Shayna Baszler and then it was Amanda Nunes (who dropped out just five days after accepting the fight). Luckily for fight fans Leslie Smith stepped in on very short notice and the fight was back on.
After her UFC debut was deemed a no contest Kaufman needs a strong performance if she wants to be considered for a title shot.
So there you have it, 3.5 reasons to watch the TUF Nations Finale. The main event is worth the price of admission alone. It should be a good night of fights.
