Amanda Nunes Drops Out Of Kaufman Fight

UPDATE: It is being reported that Leslie Smith will be stepping i to fight Sarah Kaufman at the TUF Nations finale. Smith is 3-2 in her last five fights at Invicta FC.

Sarah Kaufman can’t catch a break. First Shayna Baszler pulls out of the fight scheduled for The Ultimate Fighter Nations finale and now Amanda Nunes has pulled out with an injury. Nunes was to replace Baszler. So now we need a replacement for the replacement.

Nunes posted an x-ray of her hand that shows a dislocated thumb to her Instagram account today. In the post she says, ” was really excited to fight Sara. This was a great opportunity for me Unfortunately I dislocated my finger and it will have to wait.”

Amanda Nunes was announced as the replacement for Baszler merely five days ago and now she is out. That has got to be some kind of record.

As for Kaufman, it is unclear if she will be fighting at all in the TUF Nations finale, which is scheduled for April 16 in Quebec, Canada.

Kaufman is a former Strikeforce champion but has had only one fight in the UFC. That was a split decision loss to Jessica Eye that was later deemed a No Contest due to Eye failing a post-fight drug test.

With Amanda Nunes dropping out and the TUF Nations finale less than ten days away it looks like this fight will be scrapped and Kaufman will have to wait to get her first victory inside the octagon.
