Will Patrick Cummins Get Another Fight In The UFC ? White Responds

UFC President Dana White who spoke to reporters in a post-fight media scrum expressed that co-main event fighter Patrick Cummins would be given another shot in the UFC. Cummins took the bout against Daniel Cormier on nine days’ notice after Cormier’s original opponent who was Rashad Evans had to bow out due to an injury. Below are some highlights from the interview:

White on what he was hearing about Cummins before the fight: “A lot of people said a lot of good things about Patrick Cummins. Even tonight, guys who were on the Olympic Committee for wrestling were texting me saying this guy’s a tough kid, this guy’s this, this guy’s that.”

White on will Cummins getting another fight: “Yeah, we’ll give him another fight. We’ll give him a fight he can prepare for.”

White on how Cormier performed: “(Cormier) wanted this fight really bad. I don’t mean to say this in a disrespectful way to Cummins because I like the kid. But Cormier needed to come out and treat him like that. He needed to do what he did to him. But the question was, could he? The fight was intriguing. These guys had competed together before and wrestled and trained. I wanted to see it. Better than pulling it off and not having the fight.”

Pat Cummins claimed that he made DC cry In practice, but with everything that I saw on Saturday night. I highly doubt that and I think it was all talk on Cummins part just to get the fight. Well done!
