Alistair Overeem Says He Is Not Running From JDS

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Alistair Overeem gets no respect. He thoroughly dominated Frank Mir at UFC 169 and Dana White called it a crappy performance. Now he is being accused of ducking fellow heavyweight fighter Junior Dos Santos.

Dana White came out and said this: “He wants nothing to do with dos Santos,” he said. “He’s literally hiding from JDS … but he had no problem calling out Brock Lesnar who hasn’t fought in two years and who is in WWE.”

I understand the backlash that Alistair Overeem gets. He was supposed to come into the UFC and dominate the heavyweight division but he got busted for elevated levels of testosterone. Once he came back he lost two fights via knockout against Bigfoot Silva and Travis Browne.

He was on the verge of becoming one of the biggest busts in UFC history when he defeated Mir and seemingly got his career back on track.

According to Overeem he is not ducking Dos Santos. He says he is on vacation and rehabbing and injury. He took to Twitter to defend himself.

Alistair Overeem will be back in the octagon very soon and will continue his quest for the UFC heavyweight title. No doubt, Dana White will match him up with top fighters. The Reem has his future in his hands. He can probably get a title shot after two or three more wins.

No matter what is going on right now I don’t see Alistair Overeem leaving the UFC any time soon.
