Rumor going around is The UFC will make the headline fight for the card in Brazil has a main event. Well what is it?

Dan Henderson and Mauricio Rua will headline the event and yes they have already fought one before. Back in 2011 at UFC 139 on November 19, 2011. They had a five round war that sent both fighters to the hospital after the fight.

In 2011, Dan Henderson defeated Maurício “Shogun” Rua by the way of unanimous decision. Since then both fighters have not been the same.

Henderson is (29-11) tested free agency, but resigned with the UFC. He has lost his last three fights and it should be noted he is 43 years of age.  It all started with a loss to Lyoto Machida at UFC 157, Rashad Evans at UFC 161 and then lost to Vitor Belfort via TKO where he was knocked out with a head kick in first round in November.

On the other hand, “Shogun”(22-8) is 2-2 in last four fights, but is on a won fight win streak when he beat James Te-Huna last December.  He lost two fights in a row to Alexander Gustafsson in December of 2012, Chael Sonnen where he was choked out in August of 2013. Finally he is back on track.

I cannot stress the enough, UFC has not confirmed this fight and is still unofficial.

Here is the rest of the card:

  • Mauricio Rua vs. Dan Henderson
  • Cezar Ferreira vs. C.B. Dollaway
  • Jussier Formiga vs. Scott Jorgensen
  • Fabio Maldonado vs. Gian Villante
  • Ronny Markes vs. Thiago Santos

The event goes down in Natal, Brazil, on March 23.

In an update: sources have confirmed that the fighters have verbally agreed to the bout.
