The final fight in the trilogy between Michael Chandler and Eddie Alvarez will take place at Bellator’s first pay-per-view (PPV) event.
“It’ll be a pay-per-view event; we haven’t finalized the date yet, but it’ll be incredible,” Rebney said on Monday. “The first fight they had was the best fight I’d ever seen live. The second fight was one of the best fights I’ve ever seen. Sometimes, guys just match up stylistically and they can’t help but give you pure magic when they get in the cage. These guys are that.”
Bellator CEO, Bjorn Bebney, confirmed that the fight will take place but did not disclose where or when. Bellator’s tenth season will start February 28 and the first seven events have already been set. So unless they decide to bump one of those fights and stick Chandler-Alvarez 3 in one of those slots this fight probably won’t happen until after April.
Michael Chandler and Eddie Alvarez have already put on two classic fights with each fighter winning once. Given the history this fight should be an instant classic.
Alvarez is the current Bellator lightweight champion having defeated Michael Chandler last November at Bellator 106, which was supposed to be the promotions first PPV event.
