Miesha Tate thinks she can beat Ronda Rousey. In fact she thinks Rousey has a lot of weaknesses in her game. In a recent media teleconference to promote her title fight against Rousey at UFC 168, Tate sounded confident that the women’s bantamweight strap will be leaving Las Vegas with her.
“There’s a lot of weaknesses in her game,” she said. “I think a lot of people build Ronda up to be this invincible person and there’s no way she can be beaten, but I don’t see it that way at all. I see a lot of holes in her game, and I see a lot of ways that she can be exploited. Just because it hasn’t happened yet doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen. I’m going to do something different on the 28th than anyone else has done. There’s holes in there, you saw it, I saw it. I don’t think it needs any explanation, they’re there to be taken advantage of.”
I’m not sure exactly what Miesha Tate saw because all of Rousey’s fights have not made it out of the first round. Seven fights, seven armbars. Not much weakness to see there. Of course this just could be Tate’s way of getting into Rousey’s head. She wants Rousey to think there is something that she needs to change. It’s doubtful that this ploy will work.
Or maybe Miesha Tate really does think she can beat the champ. She will certainly have a lot of support from many fight fans who have been turned off by Ronda Rousey’s behavior and attitude in recent months. Because of all the animosity between the two fighters this fight has a chance to outshine the main event and could easily be Fight Of The Night.
If Miesha Tate really does have a plan to exploit the weaknesses in Ronda Rousey’s game she will pull off one of the biggest upsets in the UFC this year.
