UFC On Fox 9 has had its share of injuries. This card could have had Carlos Condit, Anthony Pettis, Matt Brown, Ian McCall and a host of others fighting but injuries have taken their toll. But that is all in the past. The final card is still deep with talent and has some great fights.
Here are the three fights that we are the most interested in.
Demetrious Johnson (18-2-1, 6-1-1 UFC) vs. Joseph Benavidez (19-3, 6-1 UFC)
The main event at UFC On Fox 9 will be the second meeting between the two fighters. Demetrious Johnson won the first meeting via split decision. Benavidez had his moments in the fort fight but Johnson controlled the majority of the action.
Since then Benavidez has beat Ian McCall, Darren Uyenoyama and Jussier de Silva and has worked his way up to the number one contenders spot in the flyweight division. He hits harder than Johnson and has a better ground game than the current champ.
Johnson has incredible cardio and can wear down his opponents in the later rounds. He has superior speed and come in at odd angles and keeps his opponent guessing. With this fight being five rounds expect Johnson to wear down Benavidez and get a decision to retain the belt.
Urijah Faber (29-6, 5-2 UFC) vs. Michael McDonald (16-2, 5-1 UFC)
Urijah Faber has lost to just three fighters since 2010, they are; Jose Aldo, Dominick Cruz and Renan Barao. If Michael McDonald wants to be the fourth he has his work cut out for him. Faber has a great right hand and can use it to end a fight at any moment.
McDonald will want to take this fight to the ground where he can seek a submission. He has a great ground game and can take down his opponent at will. Look for him to win via submission.
Joe Lauzon (22-9, 9-6 UFC) vs. Mac Danzig (21-11, 5-7 UFC)
This fight has the potential to be Fight Of The Night at UFC On Fox 9. Bothe fighters desperately need a win simply because it features Joe Lauzon. He has received 12 post-fight bonuses in his UFC career so far and this fight should be no exception.
Lauzon and Danzig are both riding losing streaks and desperately need a win to stay in the UFC. Both fighters have great ground games and this fight could end at any minute.
Lauzon always brings incredible energy and aggression. This could be too much for Danzig and Lauzon could take this fight via submission.
Despite all the injuries UFC On Fox 9 has the potential to be a very memorable card. Each fight has the potential to be a memorable one.
