Former Ring of Combat champion and current UFC welterweight, Ryan LaFlare (8-0) has been competing in professional mixed martial arts since 2008. LaFlare captured the ROC welterweight belt, but was sidelined by injuries from 2010, all the way to this year, 2013. LaFlare made his return to the cage in January and went on to finish Andrew Osbourne via arm-bar. Quickly after that fight, LaFlare had signed with World Series of Fighting and was set to fight on the WSOF 2: Johnson vs. Arlovski card against Josh Burkman. LaFlare then took a better offer to fight at UFC on FUEL TV 9: Mousasi vs. Latifi. LaFlare went on to dominate all three rounds over Ben Alloway in his UFC debut.
LaFlare will fight for the second time inside the octagon, this time in Brazil at UFC Fight Night 32. He will meet UFC newcomer Santiago Ponzinibbio (18-1). 16 of his 18 wins have come by the way of stoppage. Ponzinibbio was on his way to making it to the TUF:Brazil 2 finals, but an injury in his semi-final match, forced him to withdraw. Ponzinibbio will have a chance to earn that first UCF win in his home of Brazil as he take son Long Island’s LaFlare.
