Bellator MMA has been pulling out all the stops as they prepare for their first ever PPV event, Bellator 106: Jackson vs. Ortiz. earlier this week the promotion announced that they had reached an agreement with Eddie Alvarez and that he would be fighting Michael Chandler in a rematch for the Bellator lightweight title. Today they announced another re-match will be on the Bellator 106 card. Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal (11-2) will be squaring off with Emmanuel Newton (21-7-1) for a second time. Current Heavyweight champion Attila Vegh is sidelined due to a shoulder injury, meaning that newton vs. King Mo II will be for the Bellator light-heavyweight Interim title.
It was in the Bellator season 8 light-heavyweight semi-final where Newton landed a spinning back fist that knocked King Mo out cold. Newton went on to win the tournament, earning a chance at the title. King Mo has worked his way back as he was given a chance to fight in the Summer series Light-heavyweight tournament. King Mo finished Seth Petruzelli in semi-finals and then a TKO win over Jacob Noe. Will Newton be able to defeat King Mo once again, we will find out on November 2nd at the Long beach Arena in California.
