K.J. Noons vs. George Sotiropoulos slatted for UFC 166

Former Strikeforce lightweight K.J. “King” Noons (11-7) lost his UFC debut against Donald Cerrone at UFC 160: Velasquez vs. Silva 2. This defeat marked his thirdconsecutive lost. Noons was fighting for his job against Ryan Couture at Strikeforce: Marquardt vs. Saffiedine. Noons lost that fight, but was still able to secure a spot on the UFC roster. Noons last victory was back in December of 2011. Noons will most likely be fighting for his job once again at UFC 166.

Noons will meet Australia’s own George Sotiropoulis (14-5). Like his opponent, Sotiropoulis suffered three straight losses in a row. Sotiroupolis had the honor to be a coach on the first ever “The Ultimate Fighter: Smashes U.K. vs. Australia” Sotiropoulis coached Team: Australia and took Robert Whittaker to the finals where he was victorious. That same night at UFC on FX 6, Sotiropoulis faced off against the U.K. coach Ross Pearson, but fell short when he was finished by TKO in the third round. Both of these lightweight will need a victory at UFC 166, one more lost will give them a good chance of being cut. This match-up will all go down at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas on October 19th.
