Vladimir Matyushenko vs. Christian M'Pumba and Diego Nunes vs. Patricio Freire added to Bellator 99


Bellator MMA season 9 is getting closer and closer and Bellator 99 will be hitting Temecula, California on September 13th. Headlining will be newly signed and former UFC light- heavyweight Vladimir Matyushenko vs. former Bellator light-heavyweight champion Christian M’Pumba. Matyushenko went (2-3) in his last five fights with the UFC. Matyushenko is coming off a two fight skid, including losses to Alexander Gustafsson and Ryan Bader. M’Pumba has also lost two straight in Bellator, a non-title fight to Travis Wiuff and lost his belt to Attila Vegh.

Also on the Bellator 99 card will be a 8-man Featherweight tournament. Patricio Freire who is coming off a title lost to Pat Curran. Freire was unsuccessful in his attempt, but has always sat at the top of the Bellator featherweight division. Freire will meet former UFC featherweight Diego Nunes. Nunes was once one fight away from a possible title shot under the Zuffa banner, but will now look to gain Bellator featherweight gold. Also in the tourney is the season 8 winner Shahbulat Shamhalaev who will take on Akop Stepanyan. Team Bombsquad’s Desmond Green fights Fabricio Guerreiro. Green has one sole lost, but has rebounded with two wins over his toughest opponents yet, Gemiyale Adkins and former UFC fighter Henry Martinez. Topping off the tournament is Andrew Fisher vs. Joe Taimanglo.
