On June 26th, 2011 John “Doomsday” Howard was defeated by Matt Brown, the loser of this fight would be out of a job. Howard found a new home in CES after being cut, which was an MMA promotion in Rhode Island. Howard went (5-0) in the CES cage and earned a middleweight title. Howard will now return to the octagon at UFC on FOX Sports 1 1: Sonnen vs. Rua. “Doomsday” will take on TUF 17 runner-up Uriah Hall. Hall was originally supposed to face Nick Ring, but injury sidelined Ring. Then it was Josh Samman who would get the next opportunity to fight Hall, but he too became injured. Now Howard will have the opportunity to start his second stint with the UFC on a good note.

Hall was the heavy favorite before the TUF 17 Finale: Faber vs. Jorgensen and even now he is still considered by many to be the next big thing in the UFC. Howard earned a second chance to prove he belongs as a contender in the UFC and has found a new home in the middleweight division. Howard is a Boston based fighter who will be able to showcase his new skills against Hall in Boston at UFC on FOX Sports 1 1: Sonnen vs. Rua on August 17th.
