Chris Weidman knockouts Anderson Silva, Silva kisses title goodbye

Tonight in the UFC 162 main event, Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman clashed for the middleweight title. Both fighters were undefeated in the UFC and excitement filled the air. Many believed Weidman could win, hell I kept saying he would, but never did I think he would have done it the way he did. Even when it happened, I was speechless.

Anderson Silva approached the fight as he always does, acting confident, constantly moving, and just Anderson being himself. Once Weidman scored a takedown, the fight took a slight turn. Once Weidman kept Silva down for a bit, eye brows were raised. Once they got to their feet, Anderson began to taunt Weidman, attempting to take him out of his game. Silva began to land leg kicks and was looking much better at the end of round one.

In round two, Silva was even cockier with his taunts and antics. Weidman on the other hand started to land on those openings. Silva was getting so ridiculous that when he was hit, he faked being hurt. Little did Anderson know that it would soon all come to an end. Weidman landed a right and again Silva faked being rocked. Weidman let his hands go and finally hit a left  hand strike righton the chin of Silva knocking the champ out cold. Weidman had won the title and defeated the number one pound for pound fighter in the world

Maybe the antics of Silva cost him the fight, but he left Weidman an opening and Weidman being a smart fighter, took it. Weidman promised he would win and he said he would finish him. Weidman kept to his word and did it, took the strap and walked away a champion.  In the post-fight interview Anderson Silva was speechless and talked about how he wanted to retire. When all is said and done Weidman is the new champion and he dethroned the one who no one thought would be beaten.
