“The Ultimate Fighter” season 1 winner Diego “The Dream” Sanchez (24-5) made his return to the UFC lightweight division with a split decision over Takanori Gomi at UFC on FUEL TV 8 in Japan. It was not Sanchez’s best performance by far, but he will need to bring his best when he enters the octagon next time around. Sanchez will meet former Lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez next. Melendez made his UFC debut against current UFC lightweight champ Benson Henderson back in April, where Melendez lost by a split-decision. Many believed Melendez won the Henderson fight, but with a win over Sanchez, Melendez would put himself in position to get back in the title race. This match-up will all go down at UFC 166 on October at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
