Frenchman, Cheick Kongo bounced back from a loss to Mark Hunt with a dominating unanimous decision win over American, Shaun Jordan on the main card at UFC 149 from the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Canada.
Jordan looked to tie up Kongo from the bell, and after a clinch against the cage Kongo took the back of Jordan but a low shot by the American saw Kongo take time to recover. After the fight was restarted both fighters went back to the clinch against the cage where Kongo closed out in control of the round, landing knees on the inside.
After more clinching in the early stages of round 2, Kongo found some distance and landed two big left hands down the pipe before choosing to engage in grappling with the Greg Jackson trainer, Jordan. Jordan was given a chance from the top position on Kongo but was unable to do any damage before the bell.
With the fight in the balance both fighters came out aggressive in the final frame with Kongo again looking to get Jordan to the mat. Kongo was too strong for the inexperienced Jordan, dominating the fight with the clinch but was unable to finish the American.
The judges scored the fight (30-27, 30-27, 30-28) all in favor of Kongo who won his 18th career fight.
