UFC 148: Anderson Silva ends conflict with a win over Chael Sonnen

The greatest fighter of all time, Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva proved just that, retaining his UFC Middleweight belt stopping Chael Sonnen in the second round for his 2nd career victory over Sonnen.

Sonnen landed his power double inside 10 seconds and worked straight to his ground and pound. Silva looked to pass the guard but Sonnen was in his guard and after getting his leg free, he was able to land with ground strikes where they fought to the bell.

Silva scuffed an early takedown attempt of Sonnen’s in the second round and he looked to pounce. After going for a spinning back fist, Sonnen slipped, and Silva landed a knee to the body of Sonnen before moving in for the kill, forcing the stoppage at 1:55 of round 2.

“I dont have anything for Chael,” said Silva post fight. “He disrespected my country but it’s a sport. Let’s show Brazil has manners and everyone clap Chael.”

Silva squashed all the pre fight hate between the two, inviting Sonnen over for dinner.

“If you’d like to come to my house for a BBQ, I’d love to have you over,” Silva told Sonnen.

“They gave me an opportunity and I’m very grateful,” said a dejected Sonnen.

“Anderson Silva is a true champion.”
