The UFC will return to it’s birthplace for the 150th event. UFC 1 was hosted in the McNichols Sports Arena, Denver in 1993. UFC 150 will broadcast from the Pespi Center, Dever on Aug 11. Tickets go on sale Jun 15.
The majority of the fight card is yet to be annouced, however we do know of two fights. Luis Cane will take on Yushin Okami at
middleweight and Thiago Tavares will throw-down against Dennis Hallman at Lightweight.
Two main events look likely, MMA Junkie reported that the third fight in the Benson Henderson Vs Frankie Edgar saga will be annouced as the main event. However the timing is right for Jon Jones Vs Dan Henderson. Maybe a little too close for that, but Jones will want to stay busy this year — keeping momentum to his title reign.
Frankie Edgar is the king of rematch, and Benson Henderson is a naturally gifted fighter, probably the best lightweight in the world. Although that is a debatable call as that division is stacked.
It astonishing that the UFC has returned to it’s birthplace on this milestone, how far the organisation and the sport has come in that time. We will surely reminisce about the journey in months to come.
